The purpose of this text is to assist both student and professional nurse practitioner to establish more effectively a helping relationship with hospitalized adults, and with others who may be affected by the individual and his illness. The concepts presented in this work are believed to be applicable to all clinical areas of nursing. The content is arranged in such a way that the concepts presented begin with the elementary then progress to the more complex.
